Washington D.C. -
Penn's Northeast proudly joined the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) at the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit, promoting Northeastern Pennsylvania as a top destination for international business investment. Organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, SelectUSA remains the premier event for driving foreign direct investment (FDI) into the United States.
This year’s summit was the largest to date, drawing more than 5,500 attendees from over 100 international markets and 54 states and territories. Held just outside Washington, D.C., the summit served as a powerful platform to cultivate global economic partnerships and spotlight investment-ready regions across the United States.
Putting Northeastern Pennsylvania in the Spotlight
Penn's Northeast used this high-profile event to showcase the region’s business advantages - strategic location, skilled workforce, strong infrastructure, and a favorable cost of living. President and CEO John Augustine, alongside DCED representatives, engaged with international delegations to spotlight key industries such as logistics, food manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, and plastics.
A Taste of Pennsylvania - NEPA Style
This year, the Pennsylvania booth had a strong Northeastern PA flavor - literally.
Several NEPA-based manufacturers contributed locally made products to represent the state’s business and cultural strengths.
Guests at the booth were treated to Yuengling beer, courtesy of America’s oldest brewery, headquartered in Pottsville, PA. Mrs. T’s Pierogies, a household name in comfort food and based in Schuylkill County, provided delicious pierogies for guests to sample, drawing plenty of attention and praise.
Adding a fun and local touch to the booth, a stand-up image of Saquon Barkley, star running back for the Philadelphia Eagles and proud Northeastern PA resident, greeted visitors and made for a popular photo op.
Strengthening Global Connections
Penn’s Northeast’s presence allowed for meaningful networking with investors, site selectors, and trade officials from around the world. Through meetings, receptions, and breakout sessions, the team built strong new relationships and expanded the region’s international reach.
"Each year, the SelectUSA Summit opens new doors for Northeastern Pennsylvania," said Augustine. "We’re proud to represent our region and thankful to the local businesses that helped bring a taste of NEPA to a global audience."
Looking Ahead
Penn’s Northeast remains committed to attracting new investment and jobs to the region. The contacts and momentum generated from the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit will support continued efforts to drive growth, foster international partnerships, and showcase all that Northeastern Pennsylvania has to offer.
