The dream of passenger rail service connecting Scranton, the Poconos, and New York City is moving along the tracks closer to becoming a reality! It was recently announced that the route has been accepted into the Corridor ID Program, and the Federal Railroad Administration will be providing $500,000 in funding towards the Scranton to NYC route.

Help us build momentum for the route’s restoration by attending the Scranton-Poconos-NYC Passenger Rail Rally on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions! Learn more about the proposed rail line, which would potentially include Pennsylvania stops in East Stroudsburg, Mount Pocono, and Scranton, show your support for the development of passenger rail service in the region, and hear from local and national experts. Be part of the movement to support this project so that it continues to completion!

The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, joined by partners in the Pocono Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, the NEPA Alliance, and Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, will host a public rail rally on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions , with officials including Congressman Matt Cartwright in attendance to discuss the next steps of the proposed rail line to connect Scranton, the Poconos, and New York City.
