Scranton, Lackawanna County, PA - Lackawanna College serves a unique role within the communities in which it operates.

Boasting the lowest private tuition and fees within the region, the college offers access to high-quality, affordable higher education.

The college’s operations demonstrate the belief that access is only the first part of the equation when it comes to success in higher education; the other half is the need to provide student support services that remove barriers to persistence.

Faculty and staff prioritize individualized interactions to help determine and provide what students need in terms of academic, social, emotional, and/or financial resources. This level of individualized attention sets the college apart from other institutions of higher education.

Building on its reputation as one of the world’s most innovative companies as named by Fast Company in 2021, Lackawanna College will launch its Center for Technology Innovation in the fall semester.

The center will serve as an education and corporate training space for both new students and existing professionals in the industrial technology workforce. The center will offer undergraduate degree programs, corporate training, as well as short-term, stackable certificates, to prepare individuals for the jobs of tomorrow in areas such as robotics, electric vehicles/advanced automotive, cybersecurity, and communications technology.

“We’ll be helping people in northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond become workforce ready,” Marc Gonzalez, center executive director, said. “I find that remarkably compelling because it means the education provided by the CTI will change lives and make prospects brighter for entire families.”

The center is accepting enrollment in programs toward careers in industries such as transportation and logistics, warehousing and distribution, industrial automation, and technology and communication. Lackawanna College’s vision for the center is to ensure the college’s role as an economic, social, and community development leader that supports the future industrial ecosystem.

“Nationwide, the landscape is changing, and as new technologies replace old ways of work, we need a workforce ready to embrace these changes and able to upgrade their skill set to fill the critical mass of jobs expected in the next few decades,” said Lackawanna College President and Chief Innovation Officer Jill Murray, Ph.D. “The CTI will prepare highly-trained workers by combining academics and technical, hands-on skill-building so its graduates will be prepared for future-proof careers with long-lasting social and economic impact.”

Lackawanna offers affordable degrees that lead to long-lasting careers. Hands-on education prepares students for the workforce — from healthcare industries to careers in area restaurants, corporations, and human service agencies. Additionally, the continuing education department helps put people back to work with modern career skills.

Located in downtown Scranton, with satellite centers in Hawley, Hazleton, Tunkhannock, Sunbury, and Towanda, Lackawanna College is a private, accredited, four-year college serving the people of Northeast Pennsylvania.

Founded in 1894, Lackawanna College serves approximately 2,000 students and remains true to its mission to train future generations of hard-working professionals.

The college’s offerings include certificate, associate, and bachelor's level programming in a variety of fields, all of which lead to sustainable employment.
