Lackawanna College announced it broke ground at the location of its new Center for Technology Innovation (CTI) building in December 2025 and is projected to open for the fall 2026 semester, featuring a 17,500-square-foot space instructing programs in growing technology fields such as cybersecurity, robotics, and advanced automotive technologies.
An Investment in Workforce Development
The new CTI building will be located at 520 Wyoming Ave. in Scranton and is part of a $10 million investment by Lackawanna College to meet the needs of today’s industrial workforce. The new building will offer undergraduate degrees, corporate training, and short-term, stackable certificates to prepare individuals for the jobs of tomorrow. Previously, the CTI and its degree programs were announced in 2021, and the College is now one step closer to opening the facility.

Supporting Regional Workforce Needs
Once open, the CTI will continue to make an economic impact in Scranton and beyond as the programming will directly address the need for more skilled technology workers in Northeast Pennsylvania and throughout the Commonwealth. The College expects the facility to serve around 300 students every academic year.
Programs Designed for Tomorrow’s Workforce
Areas of study planned to be offered at the CTI include:
• Robotics & Automation
• Electric Vehicles & Advanced Vehicle Technologies
• Cybersecurity
• Emerging Energy Technology
The CTI will also offer training and uptraining programs for corporate partners as well as Dual Enrollment courses for local high school students interested in energy and advanced manufacturing.
