Honesdale, Wayne County, PA - Kitty Hawk Technologies, an engineering services firm based in Honesdale, was recently awarded a $25 million contract by the Navy to provide mission engineering and analysis support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division.

Under this five-year contract, Kitty Hawk will provide advanced analysis of the capabilities of current and future Navy combat systems to defeat any existing or anticipated threat. “The political and military leadership of our nation must have confidence in the ability of the fleet to fight and win in any contested water throughout the world.

Kitty Hawk and our government partners are providing insight into the capabilities, potential gaps, and tactics that will ensure that the Navy can consistently win,” says Dave Suhosky, Kitty Hawk’s President. “Working hand in hand with the government, our team of acknowledged subject matter experts will help Navy leadership to field and deploy the weapons and tactics necessary to confront and overcome modern threats.”

Founded ten years ago in Honesdale, Kitty Hawk has built a broad customer base that also includes the Army, Air Force, and the Missile Defense Agency. Additionally, Kitty Hawk has designed and manufactured ultra-precision parts for the International Space Station through contracts with NASA.

“Our insight into the development of mission requirements, digital production of prototypes, full-spectrum testing, and hardware production gives us a unique capability to deliver innovative solutions,” says Mr. Suhosky. “Although our customers are based throughout the country, we know that our Northeastern Pennsylvania workforce is second-to-none, and we remain committed to continuing to offer high technology careers in the region.”

To facilitate their success, Kitty Hawk has leveraged extensive help, guidance, and financial support from Pennsylvania business development agencies, including the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center, and the Wayne Economic Development Corporation.

Mr. Suhosky praised the Northeastern PA economic development ecosystem. “Our business development partners in Northeastern PA, along with the support of Representative Cartwright, are without a doubt a major reason for our success and is why we expect to continue that trajectory in the future.”

Mary Beth Wood, executive director of the Wayne Economic Development Corporation, praised Kitty Hawk for the level of expertise on display in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

"We have a company doing major technology work for our armed forces and other entities right here in Honesdale Borough," she said. "This significant award is going to continue with job creation and retention. These are the types of jobs we love to grow here with those technology focuses."
