Traveling in Northeastern Pennsylvania
Northeastern Pennsylvania is located right between the Northeastern and the Mid-Atlantic regions of the country. Since NEPA is a close distance to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston and Washington D.C., our region makes it easy to travel to these areas and beyond.
International Airport
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is the region's main airport.
Located in Avoca, in the heart of Northeastern Pennsylvania, AVP offers a comfortable environment and friendly staff without the hassle of a larger airport.
Travelers can take direct flights via:
- American Airlines to Charlotte, Philadelphia and Chicago
- Delta Air Lines to Atlanta and Detroit
- United Air Lines to Washington D.C., Newark and Chicago
- Southern Airways Express to Pittsburgh
Travelers can also pick up connecting flights to anywhere else in the world. Flights run at all different times of day, and the size of the airport makes it easy to navigate.
Public Transportation
The Northeast region is one of the most densely populated areas in the country. Since NEPA is located right in the middle, residents are able to reach most main cities and regions in the country. There are multiple charter buses from Northeastern Pennsylvania to take travelers to New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia and more. The region also has an extensive public transportation system to get residents around the multiple counties in NEPA.
Martz Trailways is a family owned motorcoach company originally based out of Wilkes-Barre. They serve Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, The Poconos, New York City, and Philadelphia. Departures are offered from multiple locations daily for those commuting to New York City. Martz also offers day tours, multi-day tours, PA and NJ casino services, and charters.
