Wayne County

Wayne County, Pennsylvania

"A great place to visit. A better place to live!"

Wayne County sits in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, covering 763 square miles, and possessing all the natural beauty associated with the Pocono Mountains. Theonly natural boundary is the Delaware River, carving its meandering path along the northeast border.

From its northern boundary with the State of New York, Wayne County reaches 55 miles south to the center of the Pocono Mountains. This is the longest north-south span in the Commonwealth. This distance results in a diverse county with different needs and appeal. Wayne County also has more bodies of water than any other county in the Commonwealth – covering approximately 11,000 acres of surface water. Woodlands complete the picture, blanketing over half of Wayne County's land.

Wayne County is one of the areas in the Northeast where Marcellus Shale is reachable. The Marcellus Shale formation is the largest source of domestic natural gas yet discovered in the United States.

Combine Wayne Counties moderate four-season climate, abundant water, and rural natural beauty with our proximity to major urban areas, and you have the ingredients for a growing population and enviable quality of life.
