Luzerne County is located is scenic Northeastern Pennsylvania. Its three population centers - Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and Pittston, make up the largest population density in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. There are 5 Luzerne County Regions; Back Mountain (Dallas/Harvey's Lake), Pocono Plateau (Mountain Top), North River (Wilkes-Barre/Pittston), Southern Crossroads (Hazleton) and South Valley.

The area is easily accessible via Interstates I-80, I-81, I-84 and 476, the Northeast Extension  which interconnects with nearby I-80, I-84 and I-380. Luzerne County is just two hours to Philadelphia and New York City. 


The Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport is located at the northern tier of the County in Avoca, PA.
