Northeastern Pennsylvania knows how important education is for a strong region to become even more successful!
Northeastern Pennsylvania's education system prepares students above and beyond the country standard. NEPA has over 20 higher educational institutions located in the region including top-ranked graduate and undergraduate universities, community colleges, and one of the nation’s newest medical colleges, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
Students who study in our region are trained extensively in their field.
The schools in Northeastern Pennsylvania have some of the highest enrollment in health professions, business management, marketing, and engineering.
Even before college, our region focuses on education.
U.S. News has ranked several of Northeastern Pennsylvania's high schools and elementary schools as "the best in the country". Public schools, private institutions, and vocational programs are all located in NEPA for students to learn and succeed.

Johnson College Ranks #10 on Forbes Top 25 Two-Year Trade Schools
August 2018 Johnson College, located in Scranton Pennsylvania, has joined the rankings of premiere technical education by being ranked #10 on Forbes Top 25 Two-Year Trade Schools.
Four NEPA Universities and One College Make Money Magazine’s National List of Best Colleges
August 2018 Money Magazine ranked the University of Scranton 191st and Misericordia University 268th on its annual list of the best colleges for your money. King’s College was ranked 542nd; Wilkes University, 555th; and Marywood University, 710th.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport Announces Partnership With Marywood University On Flight Program
August 2018 Officials at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport joined representatives of Marywood University and Aviation Technologies Inc. to announce that the university will begin offering its flight program at AVP starting in September. The Marywood program, currently housed at its Scranton campus, is the only aviation education program in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
September 2018 More than 525,000 students have graduated from one of the 14 community colleges in Pennsylvania since 1965. Luzerne County Community College’s contribution to this total is more than 33,750 graduates to date. The college’s faculty, staff, and administrators continue to work tirelessly to surpass the success of the last 50 years. This hard work also has led to LCCC recently being named as the Best Community College in Pennsylvania by WalletHub.
