Penn’s Northeast Presented with Partnership Appreciation Award from Times Leader Media Group

The Times Leader Media Group recently presented Penn’s Northeast the first Partnership Appreciation Award for the organization’s outstanding collaboration on the Times Leader Media Group and Penn’s Northeast Industrial Park Series.

The Industrial Park series was developed by Times Leader Media Group’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing Kerry Miscavage and John Augustine III, Penn’s Northeast President and Chief Executive Officer.

Miscavage and Augustine shared a vision of educating our community and business leaders about the growing economic opportunities in Northeast Pennsylvania, specifically in the growing business and industrial park sector.

“This partnership is a perfect example of how we can bring new awareness and positive change in our communities,” Miscavage said. “Readers have expressed that they had no idea so many new businesses were operating and employing thousands in our area. It’s a win win.”

Augustine said regional economic success requires regional partnerships.

“At Penn’s Northeast, we appreciated the opportunity to work with the Times Leader to showcase the dozens of industrial parks throughout our region,” Augustine said. “These parks employ thousands of hardworking women and men and put money into our economy. Through partnerships, we hope to continue that success.”

Over the past 16 months, the Times Leader and partner Penn’s Northeast have published nine Industrial Park Series publications focused on local business parks in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wayne, Pike, Monroe, Schuylkill, and Columbia counties.

Through the publications, readers were invited to learn about many of the businesses that operate out of local business parks and what kinds of products and services they produce. Economic and business leaders out of the immediate area were also able to connect with Penn’s Northeast to learn about business opportunities and locations in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“The exponential economic growth in Northeast Pennsylvania has created outstanding opportunities for the region,” said Mike Murray, Publisher/Times Leader Media Group. “Through our partnership with Penn’s Northeast, the Industrial Park Series was created and helped to showcase that growth and its effects on our area. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Penn’s Northeast and others, we see a continued bright future for the area we call home and look forward with great anticipation to see where our partnership takes us next.”

“I think it’s important for the community to understand the hard work and involvement that Penn’s Northeast and other organizations in the region provide, to help enhance the economic growth in Northeastern Pennsylvania.” said Rachel Antosh Hawk, Marketing Director at Penn’s Northeast. “The Industrial Park Series did just that.”

Looking ahead to 2020, Miscavage and Augustine have a plan to release two publications that will provide updates on all business parks.

The Times Leader and Penn’s Northeast would like to thank their local partners for supporting the series and providing content.

About Penn’s Northeast

Penn’s Northeast (PNE) is Northeastern Pennsylvania’s regional non-profit economic development agency, dedicated to attracting quality employers to our region.

Penn’s Northeast serves Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Wayne and Schuylkill and Columbia counties.

Since its inception in 2002, Penn’s Northeast and its partners have helped to bring more than 10,000 jobs to its seven-county service area.

Created by a coalition of private business leaders, utility companies, local economic development organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and governments to promote Northeastern Pennsylvania’s collective assets, Penn’s Northeast facilitates the creation and retention of quality jobs by marketing Northeastern Pennsylvania to the world, and by providing site selection and incentive financing assistance to businesses, real estate brokers, developers, and site selection consultants.

The organization serves as a single regional point of contact for businesses looking to relocate to or expand within Northeastern Pennsylvania, functioning as a liaison between local development partners, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and businesses seeking new facilities.

PNE was created to perform a specific set of responsibilities — collaborative external marketing and site selection assistance — on behalf of its member organizations.

As a result, President/CEO John Augustine said Penn’s Northeast’s work wouldn’t be possible without the assets brought to the table by regional partners — industrial land development undertaken by local industrial development groups and private developers; financing and incentive programs managed by banks and nonprofit entities, also statistical research regarding the region’s workforce and economy.

Augustine said Penn’s Northeast (PNE) was created with the knowledge that Northeastern Pennsylvania is a large and varied region. Consequently, the organization works hard to be responsive to its diversity of strengths, to its geography, and to its stakeholders.

PNE is funded through annual contributions from its founding partners and its private members and investors. The organization maintains a staff of two: a president/CEO, John Augustine III, and a director of marketing, Rachel Antosh Hawk.
