Schuylkill County is in the southern section of Northeastern Pennsylvania, only an hour south of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Corridor. Some portions of Schuylkill County are in the Pocono Mountains.

Interstate 81 cuts through the county southwest to northeast, with major interchanges at mile markers 100, 107, 116, 119, 124 and 131. Schuylkill County is just minutes away from Interstate 78, Interstate 80 and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
