Nothing screams “American” louder than the Fourth of July. It is America’s birthday after all. It’s a time to celebrate everything our great county has to offer. Fourth of July weekend is a time to show your patriotic pride and celebrate everything that’s great about our country. Here’s a few events to celebrate Independence Day in NEPA.
The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Railriders
America’s Birthday and America’s Past time go hand in hand! Fourth of July Weekend the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Railriders will be playing at home! Friday kicks off the weeklong series.
The Big Bang. Let Freedom Ring
What’s more American than a hot dog eating contest, a dunk tank and live music?! Nanticoke City is yet again hosting “The Big Bang Let Freedom Ring” July 3rd from 6:00 pm- 10:00 pm. The family friendly event will feature live music, including bands “Gone Crazy” and “Rhythm & Booze” and fireworks will take off at night. Event will be held at the Greater Nanticoke Area High School.
Bread, White a Blue
Declare your independence from traditional wine tasting this holiday weekend! Freas Farm Winery is hosting their Bread White and Blue party July 3rd- July 6th. Enjoy breads in dipping oils, white cheeses and blues music out on the patio this holiday weekend while sampling breads, white cheese pairings and blues music! . Hours: Thursday – 3:30-8:30 pm; Friday, July 4: 1 to 8:30 pm; Saturday – 11 am to 6 pm; and Sunday – Noon to 6 pm.
Honesdale Independence Day Celebration
Come to Honesdale's beautiful Central Park on Thursday, July 3 for fun, food, music, and a fantastic fireworks display! Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. with children's games, vendors, and entertainment in the park provided by the Wayne County Creative Arts Council. There will be a spectacular fireworks display shot off of Irving Cliff, provided by the generous donations of the community and Dyberry Fireworks, beginning at dusk
Scrantastic Spectacular – Philharmonic & Fireworks
The NEPA Philharmonic will be performing its annual “Philharmonic & Fireworks” concert on July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Courthouse Square, Downtown Scranton. The program will consist of traditional patriotic selections with a fireworks display immediately following the performance at sundown. There will be a repeat performance on July 4th at 7:30 p.m. at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. For more information, call 570-341-1568.
Annual American Freedom Festival
The 2014 American Freedom Festival will be held over three days, with events and activities to attract residents and visitors alike. The event will be held at the Eastburg Community Alliance, 68 Analomink St, Suite B East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. As in years past, local non-profit groups, artists, businesses, and other institutions will be present to show the community what they have been up to all year. Visitors can enjoy food, carnival rides, games, music and much more throughout the day. Fireworks on July 4th.
