NEPA Air Show at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport


Avoca, PA- Excitement is in the air! Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport will host the Northeastern Pennsylvania Air Show at AVP on August 12-13, presented by the Lackawanna Visitors Bureau.  


The headliners of the event will be the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet Demo Team, U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight, plus more acts to come! 


One of the static displays coming to the Northeastern Pennsylvania Air Show will be the C-17 Globemaster III. Measuring 174’ long with a wingspan of 169’ 10”, the C-17 is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force.

Organizers expect to draw a crowd of about 15,000 people. Ticket prices range from $8 to $12 in advance and $10 to $15 the day of the event, children 5 and under are free.


Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport opened the doors to the original terminal in 1959, and replaced it with the Joseph M. McDade Terminal Building in 2006. In the airports 70 – year history, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport just recently set a new record of passengers.  


The airport had 24,378 passengers in June, 290 more than in May, which set the record. Before May, the record for a single month was 23,902 in October 1998.
