Berwick, Luzerne County, PA - Berwick Industrial Development Association, a leader in economic development focusing on industrial development and manufacturing, is pleased to announce that Sarah Lalli of Berwick Area High School class of 2019 has received the first of two scholarships that are being awarded to increase awareness for vocational and technical careers in our area.

All areas of industry are in need of skilled labor.  Ms. Lalli has been accepted by Misericordia University, and will be majoring in Medical Imaging.  The medical industry is the leading the nation in the number of jobs available and the number of people currently employed.

Pennsylvania is in a positive upward swing for all industrial and vocational skill employment opportunities.  With our growing economy; employers have more job openings than ever and are struggling with finding skilled employees.  Ms. Lalli will definitely be a major asset to Misericordia University and for any health care/diagnostic facility that she so chooses to work for.

This scholarship program will continue on and two more scholarships will be awarded next school year, and BIDA encourages all students interested in the trades to apply.  BIDA’s clients are still searching for welders, machine maintenance, building and trades, electrical engineering and the list goes on.

Congratulations again, to Sarah Lalli, and the next grantee will be announced and awarded at the Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School on June
